Rainy Day Tent Time

As the rain gently woke me from my slumber this morning, I knew there was not chance of heading outside to play in the sandbox. I'm not sure why, but the idea of a sheet/blanket tent popped into my head and motivated me to get up and get moving. It seemed like the second my feet hit the floor, the guys woke up demanding oatmeal, but I had a spring in my step as I planned my tent.

After breakfast, Harry was spent and ready for his morning nap. Ollie and I set out to gather supplies and make the best tent ever. Even though I did my best to explain the concept to Ollie, he just couldn't fathom what I was doing. I happily carried sheets from the linen closet to the couch, but I could tell he thought I lost my mind. After a solid 10 minutes preparation and work our masterpiece was completed.

By the time Harry woke up, the tent had been rebuilt and reinforced about 25 times, but Ollie finally learned that pulling on the walls makes it collapse and it wasn't a good idea to frustrate the only person tall enough to fix it.

After hours of playing in and around the tent, the guys were rubbing their eyes and ready for a nap. Ollie begged to sleep in his fortress so...

To sum things up:

This was definitely one of my favorite rainy day activities as a child and I think I liked it even more as a mom.

  2. Me too Julie. It was so comfy Jason ended up taking a nap in it for two hours! Unfortunately, we tore it down this morning, so we'll have to wait for another rainy day...
