Sous Chef Ollie

Daddy finally completed his online course, so The Mollie and Ollie Show is back on the nightly lineup. Hopefully, we can stay with the program and not get canceled.

This morning I was planning on being at work by 8:00. Ollie was so cute and cuddly that I didn't even get into the shower until Grandma showed up at 7:30. I love the fact that my schedule is flexible, because otherwise I would have missed such a relaxing time with my sweet baby boy. After all, he'll be 16 before I know it.

Ollie stayed with Grandma all day and they stayed busy. Grandma and her partner prepared dinner and invited Daddy and me to join them. I must say, he really seems to be taking after his namesake Great-Grandfather (Clarence Harmon Bentley was a cook), because the German potato salad, pork chops, Lima beans, and brownies were delicious! Grandma probably had something to do with it too, especially since she let Ollie use his Great-Great-Grandma Frieda's wooden spoon. This may have been a mistake because he managed to take a big chunk out of it. Four generations have used this spoon, but leave it to my guy to break it.

Ollie ate watermelon with his mesh feeder for dessert and he LOVED it. So much so that he soaked his bib and shirt sucking the juice. I'm guessing we should have tried to grow some in the garden. I wonder if his enthusiasm has anything to do with my watermelon obsession last summer?

After dinner Grandpa and Daddy retreated to the living room to stretch out and Ollie joined them. He talked and talked. So much so that Grandma and I could hear him from the kitchen. He's getting more and more vocal everyday and I'm still not losing hope in MaMa being his first words.

Before heading home, we checked out the garden. The deer are feasting on our sunflowers (see right) and Limas, but the rest of the plants look great. Hopefully, we'll have such a high yield that we'll be able to sell the excess for Ollie's college fund. I'm not holding my breath though.

Tomorrow Ollie's hanging with Grammie and I'm off to work...again.

Action Packed Episode

Daddy has been occupying the computer for an online course so The Mollie and Ollie Show has been on a three day hiatus. The writing staff has been having creative withdrawl, so we headed to Grammie's to borrow her computer. On with the weekend wrapup.

I worked all day Friday while Ollie kicked back with Grandma. Daddy and I managed to arrive to pick up Ollie just in time for dinner; we really have a knack for sniffing out a free meal. After dinner Grandma and Grandpa introduced Ollie to the amazing world of bubbles.

Saturday was catch up day for all of our household chores. Ollie helped me do laundry and clean while Daddy worked on his computer class. Unfortunately, Daddy was less than happy to be trapped inside on such a beautiful day, so Ollie and I stayed out of the basement as much as possible fearing being bit by the big, bad Daddy bear.

Saturday afternoon Grammie and Poppy stopped by with some really great yard sale finds. Ollie's favorite is a friend for Rusty the horse that we named Dusty. He isn't going to win the Triple Crown on the little guy, but he sure is sweet.

Today is when all the "action" took place. This morning we went to a baby shower for Shawnette at Robin and Esther's house. Ollie made friends with a sweet 14-month-old girl named Ashley. Well sweet little Ashley turned out to be quite the cougar and couldn't keep her paws off of my little darling. He really is quite the babe magnet. Warning: viewer discrection is advised for the following pictures.

By the time we got home around 2:00, Ollie was exhausted from hanging with all those women. He took a two hour nap! When he woke up, I slathered on buckets of sunscreen and we headed outside to play in his pool. As I filled it up with water (mostly warm), Betsy was tempted to jump in, but restrained herself with my coaxing or maybe demanding. She did however, snatch a ducky right under our noses. Poor Besty is still adjusting to not being the center of our attention at all times. Life is a bitch afterall.

This wild weekend really wore poor Ollie out. He was sound asleep by 8:05. Meanwhile, Daddy is still on the computer.

Lazy Thursday

I was finally off today so Ollie and I spent all morning relaxing. Grandma stopped by around 10:30 on her way to the grocery store. She persuaded us to go with her, but I'm guessing she was just encouraging Ollie and me to get out of our pajamas.

All that shopping wore poor Ollie out. He was so exhausted that he whimpered during the entire drive home from County Market and finally fell asleep as we turned onto Pleasant Ridge Road. He didn't even wake up when I put him in his crib.

When he finally woke up, Grammie called to let us know Aunt Dottie, Uncle Paul, and Kylie were at her house and we should walk down to say hello. I think they were shocked at big Ollie is since the last time they saw him.

Ollie enjoyed watching 6-year-old Kylie and all of her enthusiasm and energy.

Next, we headed home to cook dinner for Daddy. He had to go back into work at 6:30 this evening...again. Poor Daddy really needs a night off. After eating the boys played on the computer while I cleaned up. Ollie really seems to enjoy looking at tractor parts. Go figure.

As Daddy left for work, Ollie and I loaded up the car and headed to the recycling bin at the Police Station. As soon as I finished unloading all the baby food jars, Ollie started whining. I think the teeth are flaring up again because he cried for nearly an hour. Tears and everything. Why do these things happen when I'm without reinforcement? As suddenly as it started, the crying ended and Ollie was ready to eat his prunes and go to bed. I can't complain about the mood swings, but poor Daddy has two crazies to deal with now.

Tomorrow is back to work for me and back to Grandma's for Ollie. Something tells me he'll have more fun than me.
