This morning I was planning on being at work by 8:00. Ollie was so cute and cuddly that I didn't even get into the shower until Grandma showed up at 7:30. I love the fact that my schedule is flexible, because otherwise I would have missed such a relaxing time with my sweet baby boy. After all, he'll be 16 before I know it.
Ollie stayed with Grandma all day and they stayed busy. Grandma and her partner prepared dinner and invited Daddy and me to join them. I must say, he really seems to be taking after his namesake Great-Grandfather (Clarence Harmon Bentley was a cook), because the German potato salad, pork chops, Lima beans, and brownies were delicious! Grandma probably had something to do with it too, especially since she let Ollie use his Great-Great-Grandma Frieda's wooden spoon. This may have been a mistake because he managed to take a big chunk out of it. Four generations have used this spoon, but leave it to my guy to break it.
Ollie ate watermelon with his mesh feeder for dessert and he LOVED it. So much so that he soaked his bib and shirt sucking the juice. I'm guessing we should have tried to grow some in the garden. I wonder if his enthusiasm has anything to do with my
After dinner Grandpa and Daddy retreated to the living room to stretch out and Ollie joined them. He talked and talked. So much so that Grandma and I could hear him from the kitchen.
Before heading home, we checked out the garden. The deer are feasting on our sunflowers (see right) and Limas, but the rest of the plants look great. Hopefully, we'll have such a high yield that we'll be able to sell the excess for Ollie's college fund. I'm not holding my breath though.
Tomorrow Ollie's hanging with Grammie and I'm off to work...again.
