Too busy yesterday to check in, but back on track today.
I had to do some online training and join a conference call today, so Ollie went to Grammie's for a few hours so I could get my work done. She hadn't watched him since last Saturday night, so she couldn't contain her excitement as we walked through the door. Ollie was happy to see her too and smiled as soon as she kissed him.
After completing my work and 4 loads of laundry, I headed back to Grammie's to pick up the little fellow. We planned on using her kiddie pool to stay cool all afternoon, but looming storms kept us inside. Ollie and Grammie played on the floor and I enjoyed watching them interact, especially Ollie grabbing for toys. Even though the little guy is 8 months old today, I'm still in awe at the grandparently love. They just can't get enough of him!
Around 4:00, I was finally able to pry Ollie out of Grammie's arms and we rushed home to meet Daddy. We enjoyed a quiet (or I should probably say peaceful since Ollie's so gabby these days) evening hanging as a family. Daddy's going camping for the next few days, so he wanted to get in as much O-time as possible. I can't help noticing how he would not have even flinched about leaving me for a camping trip last summer, but now suddenly he finds a weekend away bittersweet. Oh well, I should be used to being a second class citizen by now.
Tomorrow I have a meeting to attend, so Ollie's heading back to Grammie's. The next two days will give me a taste of what it's like to be a single parent. I'm already certain that I'll be happy when Daddy comes home.
