No Hay Jose

So today was hectic as usual. This morning we went to Sandy's funeral. Mass was beautiful and the reception after was touching, but it was sad to say goodbye. It was also nice to see some people that I haven't seen for a while, but I would have preferred to reunite for a more joyous occasion.

After the funeral, Ollie and I headed home for lunch and a nap. We certainly deserved a rest after such a sad morning. Besides, I was really dragging because I didn't sleep very well last night with Daddy coming home so late (he was at a tractor pull).

When Daddy got home, we were off to Grandma's. When we arrived, the very first thing we did was check out the garden. The corn is about 8' tall, so tall that Daddy and Ollie nearly got lost in the row. We have a melon starting and Daddy's pumpkins are practically overtaking the garden. Best of all, we should have a tomato any day!

Daddy was planning to help Grandpa roll hay bales, unfortunately the hay was still too wet even though the sun was shining.

However, they did take the opportunity to prepare the baler and tractor so they could get right to work when it was dry enough. Ollie LOVED watching this activity. The noise and moving parts mesmerized the little guy and watching Daddy and Grandpa was an added bonus.

After the tractor excitement, Ollie and Grandma decided to relax in her backyard swing. He's learning to hold on for dear life. Everyday, it's looking more and more like he's going to be a lefty and the swing helped demonstrate how difficult it was for him to hold on with his right hand. Oh well, they say lefty's are more intelligent...they don't live as long, but they are more intelligent.

After such a long day, we made sure to have Ollie home and in bed by 8:00. He couldn't handle another late night out and certainly was exhausted after such a long day.

Tomorrow we'll be cleaning and going to Devou to see the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra in the evening. Hope it doesn't rain.
