No Labor Day

We were so lazy today that we made snails look energetic.

I was up most of the night suffering with heartburn. I'll admit I should have known better than to eat fair food yesterday, but I could not have imagined a corn dog would stay with me for 36 hours. Just about the time I dozed off around 1:45, Ollie woke up with teething pain.

Being up for 2 hours in the middle of the night was just the excuse we needed to spend 75% of the day lounging. Of course the rainy weather added to the lazy vibe, but obviously we needed a day to recuperate and relax.

Around 4:00 we were all starting to get restless. We headed out to grab a bite to eat and go to the grocery store. After much debate, we finally settled on Frisch's for Big Boys and salad bar. This was a great idea because Ollie was able to eat cottage cheese and fruit. He loved the cottage cheese so much, that he became very vocal if we didn't give it to him fast enough.

Next we were off to County Market. As usual Ollie loved the grocery store. We're not sure if it's the colorful packaging, the people, or Daddy's race car noises, but the child never stops smiling the entire time we're shopping.

After lugging and putting away groceries, it was time to kick back. Daddy was in charge of the bubbles. Usually Ollie gets excited about, but he was less than impressed by Daddy's efforts.

While we were hanging outside Grandma and Grandpa stopped by with their new camper. It was very nice, but we didn't really get too much of an opportunity to look at it because bedtime meltdown was about to start.

Even though Grandpa was anxious to get home before his bedtime meltdown, Grandma wouldn't leave without helping with Ollie's prunes and pajamas. I suppose this turned out to be a blessing because just as Grandma was getting ready to say goodnight, Ollie projectile vomited all over me, the couch, and himself. This really angered Speck, which according to Grandma turned my face gray. I yelled out the door for Daddy to come help, and I suppose I sounded panicked because both he and Grandpa came running. I had already made it to the bathroom to get Ollie's bath water running, but it was reported that Grandpa took one look at the situation and headed right back out the door.

One bath and 1/2 bottle of upholstery cleaner later we were all cleaned up and ready for bed. Poor Ollie and Grandpa missed their bedtimes, but we all learned a valuable lesson: Sometimes things come up unexpectedly.
