What a pleasant day off! First we slept in until 7:30 and both of us woke up smiling. Speck was on good behavior and only caused nausea and not dry heaving or vomiting. My lunch meeting was canceled so we made plans to meet Eric for a 30th birthday lunch.
We met at 12:15 downtown at a place called Just Crepes. Ollie loves venturing into the city because there is so much to see, but he wasn't too happy when we arrived because he had to wake up from his nap. At first he was being somewhat patient, but about 3/4's of the way through our yummy meal he started getting really crabby. I shared some artichokes, spinach, cheese, and crepe from my lunch, but even the thrill of that was wearing thin for the little guy. I guess all the lunching professionals were too much for Ollie and he started to blow a gasket as we were walking out the door.
Just by stepping outside he seemed to have a miraculous recovery and was once again smiling and happy. Eric suggested waking to Fountain Square to get some Graeter's. Since no sane person would turn that down, we grabbed Ollie's stroller out of the trunk, changed his diaper, and started trucking towards the yummies.
Ollie and I discussed trying something different, but since this would be his first taste of Graeter's goodness we decided to stick with the classic Black Raspberry Chip. Even though it doesn't show in the picture below, he enjoyed his first taste of heaven and I'm certain will be up for another try anytime.
After a relaxing lunch and dessert, Eric had to head to work and it was time for us to get home. Ollie loved the walk back to the car and was fascinated by all the traffic, storefronts, and panhandler. He may love hanging on the farm, but I think he may have some city boy in him too.
Today has been tons of fun, but tomorrow is back to work. I'm off to bed to rest up for the long day. Something tells me Speck will not be on great behavior tomorrow like this morning.
