Macie's Birthday Extravaganza

We picked up Ollie at Grandma's around 9:30 this morning. He seemed to be having a great time when we walked through the door, but I think he was really happy to see us. Grammie reported that he went to bed on time, slept all night, and didn't wake up until 7:15. Perfect little sleepover angel. Of course what happens at Grammie's stays at Grammie's, so who know what really went down.

When we got home, it was time for chores and naps. We managed to complete all necessary chores (and naps) before it was time to get ready for Macie's birthday party.

It never fails. When we need Ollie to be in a good mood, he will inevitably be crabby. As soon as I started dressing him for the party he started getting very irritable which eventually lead to crying and big crocodile tears. Daddy and I juggled entertaining the grumpy boy while we got ready to go to the party. Somehow, we managed to pull ourselves together and be out the door only 10 minutes later than planned. Ollie wasn't happy, but he wasn't crying.

Grammie, Poppy, and Aunt Sissy were already there when we arrived, but seeing them didn't even put a smile on his face. He was decidedly serious and not willing to crack a smile, even for Poppy's sneezing act. Pretty soon it was time to eat and Ollie started to cheer up. Maybe it was the mac and cheese?

After dinner, the petting zoo arrived! This was very exciting for Ollie and all the other kiddies at the party. Our little guy really has a thing for goats (are you reading this Grandpa?) and ducks.

Ollie watched patiently as birthday girl Macie took the first pony ride.

Eventually, it was Ollie's turn and boy did he like the pony (are you reading the Grandma?)! He took to it right away, grabbing onto the horn and kicking his feet like a pro. I think he would have enjoyed a little galloping, but Ellie the pony didn't move quite as fast a Rusty. After the thrill of the pony ride, Ollie was ready to cruise for babes. First, he pulled up to Riley and put on the moves, but soon enough Macie got wind of this and headed over to check out the situation. I think there was a slight confrontation, but I'm not sure how the love triangle turned out.

After cake, ice cream, and presents, it was 7:50 and time for us to head home. We didn't want to ruin Macie's party by pushing bedtime.

After all the excitement, Ollie was exhausted and couldn't even stay awake long enough to finish his bottle. I hope he doesn't wake up at 2:00AM wanting to finish it, but one thing is certain: You can't feed a sleeping baby a bottle.

Off to bed myself. Church, helping Noah plumb, and possibly gardening tomorrow will make for a full day, so Speck and I need rest.
