I planned on being off work around 2:00, picking up Ollie from Grandma by 2:30, and home spending quality time with my boy by 3:00. Sometimes things don't go as planned. Today was one of my most challenging days yet, and I ended up working until almost 5:30. This was stressing me out because I knew I wouldn't have too much time to hang with Ollie before he headed off to Grammie and Poppy's. To top it off, Daddy called me while I was trying to finish up and he was stressing because our plans had to change. So far, our evening of fun was off to a "great" start.

Daddy was the one that kept dragging his feet about Ollie spending the night away from home, but when the time came it was me that felt panicky. Since Grammie and Poppy won the coin toss, he would be spending all night with them so Daddy and I could have an exciting evening out on the town. Actually, Daddy wanted to go to Bass Pro Shop, so I wasn't sure how exciting the evening would be for me, but I was looking forward to not having to rush home for a change.
We packed up his overnight bag and Daddy agreed to take Ollie to Grammie and Poppy's while I got ready to head out. I hugged and kissed him many, many times and watched them head out the door. Honestly, they weren't gone 2 minutes and I was already missing the little guy. What has happened to me?
This evening reminded me of what our lives were like just a few short months ago. Sure, it was relaxing to not have to worry about changing diapers and eating on schedule, but nothing can replace the way I feel when Ollie smiles at me. I'm sure tonight will be the first of many sleepovers, but this proved to me I'll always have a small hole in my heart whenever I'm away from my little guy.
We're home early and off to bed before midnight even though we don't have to be, but really what else is better than extra sleep to parents. Tomorrow is a busy day with chores and Macie's birthday, and besides the sooner we go to sleep, the sooner we'll be able to see Ollie.
