I didn't have to work today, so Ollie and I slept until almost 7:30! For some reason Speck behaves so much better when we're able to sleep past 7:00. I guess he/she's not ready to wake up before that and throws a temper tantrum which sends my stomach on a wild ride. Of course just because I didn't have a bad morning doesn't mean that I didn't have to pay my dues today.
Last night, we made plans to meet Daddy for lunch, so once Ollie woke up from his morning nap, we were out the door to run errands and pick up a pizza. Daddy was working in Fort Thomas at the VA Hospital, so luckily we knew where we were going. We arrived just as the guys were heading to the shaded park area to eat. When Daddy opened Ollie's door he immediately started laughing and smiling. I guess he was shocked to see Daddy in the middle of the day. We piled Ollie in his stroller and headed for the sheltered picnic tables.
Wes and Steven were already eating when we sat down. For some reason, Ollie is not fond of Wes. This is unfortunate because Wes really likes kids and would enjoy talking to him more than most people. We have no idea why, but Ollie cries when he gets too close, so poor Wes was banished to the other side of the shelter. Troy arrived from his store run and Ollie didn't flinch at him and he had no problem with Steven. But every time Wes moved, Ollie's eyes would follow. I'm sure some day he'll like Wes, but I hope he doesn't lose patience with him before.
After lunch, Ollie and I headed home for afternoon naps. I tried to rest for a few minutes, but Speck must not have like the pepperoni pizza I ate for lunch. As Ollie and I relaxed on my bed, suddenly "morning" sickness kicked in. I'll spare the gory details, but I will not be eating Dominoe's pepperoni pizza for a long time. Tasting it twice today was enough to last a very long time.
Eventually, Speck calmed down again. Grandma stopped on her way home from school to see her little buddy. She is really missing him now that she is back to work. Actually, I think the feeling is mutual because Ollie was thrilled to see her too.
After all today's excitement I'm heading to bed super early. Hopefully, tomorrow's gastronomic adventures will be less thrilling.
