Kentucky Rain
Today's rainy weather made poor Ollie a sleepy baby. Or maybe the excitement of yesterday's gardening and discomfort of the prune/banana debacle wore him out. No matter the reason, we had a very relaxing and restful day.
Since Ollie was so laid back today it was the perfect opportunity to read and work on sign language. I'm determined to teach him to sign Mommy before Daddy because he will most certainly say "DaDa" before "MaMa." I keep telling him that's what I want for my first Mother's Day, but I have a feeling he will take hints as well as his Daddy. Although there is hope since he saved his first smile for Christmas Day, so I'll report back on Sunday.
Grammie stopped by at lunch time and she brought a gift, but brace yourselves, it wasn't for Ollie. It was for ME! It's a really cool glass ring that I had commented that I liked a few weeks ago. I can't wait to wear it! Of course it may have just been a scheme to distract me and grab Ollie, but either way I'm tickled.
It wasn't long after Grammie arrived that Poppy showed up. It is so cute how Poppy shows up if Grammie is here without him and Grammie can't stand for Poppy to be here without her. I knew when I was pregnant that my baby's grandparents would all be over-the-moon crazy, but there was nothing that could prepare me for the look of love that all four of them have when they walk through the door headed for that sweet, sweet boy. Honestly, the reason I joke about it so much is because I'd probably choke up if I didn't.
After Grammie and Poppy left, Ollie dozed off until Daddy arrived home. We tried baby food turkey and broth with green beans for dinner. I've tasted everything that I've fed the little guy, but this one wasn't easy. I'm not the only one that didn't find it appetizing because his eyes started watering and he stuck out his tongue. After two or three bites, I couldn't even get him to open his mouth. I guess we'll try again tomorrow night.
After Dinner the boys turned into total couch potatoes and the only reason I got them off their behinds was to go to for an ice cream. For some reason, Ollie expressed feelings of deja vu even though it was his first time at Sharky's. I'm thinking this may have something to do with last summer's ice cream obsession.I've enjoyed this rainy day, but tomorrow we're planning on going to the library and running errands. Off to bed.
