The warm-fuzzy feeling of my first Mother's Day juxtaposed with my first day back to work tomorrow has created an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I'm sure the twinge of motherly guilt that I'm feeling would be magnified if I were going to be working full-time, or worse if I had to leave Ollie in the hands of someone that didn't have his best interest at heart. Now that I've got that off my chest, onto the post-game wrap up.
Ollie and I went to mass first thing this morning with Grandma. We ran into Aunt Georganne and she called him "Little Jeremy" as usual. I love how my family thinks Ollie looks like Jeremy and Jason's family thinks he looks like Jason. Go figure. After church Grandma fed Ollie his morning prunes/cereal with a few spoons of baby yogurt. He LOVES yogurt! And hey, I love anything that keeps the pipes cleaned out. Next it was morning nap time while I prepped food for brunch with the Bentley's.
By 12:00 we were hanging at Grammie's with the whole gang. Ollie commanded the most comfy chair on the deck, but he let Aunt Jill and Uncle Greg join him.
After eating too much fruit I pulled the mom card and took a cat nap with my snuggle partner. This was the most relaxing 20 minutes of my whole day. That is until my arm went numb, and now looking at the aerial view I see my 6" roots. YIKES! It is very obvious how I'll be using the Sableux gift certificate Daddy and Ollie gave me.
Next, Aunt Julie snatched the little guy for a "private" stroll through the yard. I guess they had important issues to discuss while enjoying Grammie's beautiful flowers. Hopefully she was telling embarrassing stories about Daddy's childhood.
By 3:00 we were back home preparing for our company. Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Peggy were the first to arrive and they brought tons of snacks. Although Ollie was trying to take a nap, they couldn't keep their paws off of him. Uncle Jeremy brought an adorable John Deere hat. And I thought it was Mother's Day, but I guess every day is Ollie Day. Just kidding, Jeremy brought me a lovely gift; he's a great brother!
Ollie finally dozed off while we ate dinner, but was ready to chow the moment he woke up. Grandpa kept trying to steal a bite, but to no avail.
Finally, we went outside to enjoy the beautiful evening. Ollie did some swinging and used his slide for the very first time. We're not sure if he enjoyed it or not.
My first Mother's Day has been both hectic and relaxing while maintaining the overall feeling of weirdness as well while being perfectly natural. Tomorrow will be a big day, so I'm off to bed.
